Purpose of Position
The Elementary School Counselor supports the academic, social-emotional, and career development needs of all students by providing a comprehensive school counseling program. The counselor collaborates with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community resources to promote student success, foster a positive school climate, and address barriers to learning.

Master Degree in School Counseling

Valid Indiana School Counseling License

Experience and Knowledge in Best Practices for School Counseling

Performance Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program around developing knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent, and confident learners.

Work with administration to develop a safe and respectful learning environment.

Provide education, prevention, early identification and intervention, to assist their students in achieving academic success, developing an understanding of career opportunities and developing social/emotional skills in response to issues they face.

Provide direct services (school counseling core curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services), and indirect student services (consultation, collaboration, and referrals).

Collaborate with the elementary and middle school counselors in order to provide a comprehensive K-12 counseling program experience for students.

Collaborate with outside agencies to provide services to students.
