Job Title: Head Coach- High School Co-ed Track and Field

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Athletic Director
Work Hours/Days: Part-Time, February- May, Practice/game days
Hourly Wage Range: $2,000.00 one-time payout in May
Position Summary:
Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado is seeking coaching staff for the 2025/2026 school year to support the athletic director in implementing programming in various middle and high school sports.
Coaches work closely with the athletic director, requiring a highly organized, disciplined, and motivated individual to help support the school's athletic programming and goals.
Strong candidates will support the school's Mission: to develop the moral and intellectual skills, habits, and virtues upon which independent, responsible, and joyful lives are built, in the firm belief that such lives are the basis for a free and flourishing republic. This is achieved by working to train the minds and improve the hearts of young people through a classical, content-rich education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in the principles of moral character and civic virtue in an orderly and disciplined environment.
Candidates must attach a letter of introduction, a C.V. or resume, and three character references to their application. All coaching candidates must also attach a "statement of coaching philosophy."

Adhere to the principles of classical education as it relates to the improvement of a student's mind, soul, and body

Respond promptly and courteously to parent communications within one business day

Speak of and model character in terms of the School's core virtues

Ability to effectively communicate with all activities staff, parents, students, other staff members, and visitors to the school

Demonstrate expert knowledge of the sport(s) assigned

Coaches are expected to thoroughly understand the rules, principles, and competitive strategies of the sport they coach

They are expected to be present at all in-season and out-of-season practices and at all games
-
Should a coach be unable to attend a game or practice, they are to make suitable arrangements in their absence

Attend all practices and games
-
Assist with set up and take down of equipment for practices and games

Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations.

Position Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED
-
Previous coaching experience preferred

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the sport

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals

Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment

Concussion Training or willing to obtain

Loyalty to the school and ACA's mission and vision

Commitment to model moral character in line with the school's core virtues

Adherence to all ACA policies, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school and board policies
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 25 pounds

Must be prompt to all practices and games, and not leave a game/practice site until all student athletes have been picked up

Must be able to traverse the field, gym, school and stairs or any areas involved with the sport
