Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, monitoring their well-being, and promoting independence. Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 CPS services in the community and home settings
- Support participation in:
- Community outings (stores, libraries, recreation)
- Social and recreational activities
- Volunteer or pre-employment experiences
- Assist with:
- Communication and social skills
- Money management and daily living skills
- Maintain accurate daily documentation and progress notes (ODP compliant)
- Follow the individual’s ISP (Individual Support Plan)
- Ensure safety, dignity, and respect at all times
Requirements
- Knowledge of autism support, and working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance training, and medication administration are advantageous
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, team members, and healthcare providers
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting diverse populations with individuals with complex health needs
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license + reliable transportation (REQUIRED)
- Willingness to transport individual in personal vehicle
- Mileage reimbursement provided
Ability to pass:
- Criminal background check (PA State Police)
- Child Abuse Clearance
- FBI Fingerprinting (if applicable)
- Completion of required ODP trainings, including:
- Direct Support Professional Orientation
- CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
- Incident Management training
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism
- Experience providing CPS or community-based services
- Patient, engaging, and self-motivated personality
