SUMMARY:
The position focuses on supporting the Director of Domestic Production throughout the production process. The Apparel Production Assistant supports the Production team in coordinating and maintaining the day-to-day production process for both domestic and import programs. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate production records, communicating with vendors, processing production documentation and invoices, coordinating trims and labels, and supporting quality control and pre-production activities. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced apparel environment. This person will support the Quality Control team and problem solve as needed to facilitate the production flow. This role is hybrid and may work up to 2 days remotely each week. Candidates must be within commuting distance of the Mumu HQ in Downtown Los Angeles.
CORE DUTIES:
- Create new cuts and Purchase Orders for both import and domestic production.
- Maintain and update import and domestic production Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports
- Maintain and update monthly CS reports and distribute them to the Production Director.
- Communicate with domestic and overseas vendors regarding POs, pricing, trims, labels, approvals, and production status.
- Prepare templates and specifications for Quality Control (QC) inspections and distribute materials to the appropriate team members.
- Update WIP reports when cuts are received at the warehouse.
- Email POs to vendors and update pricing based on confirmation from the Production Manager.
- Maintain accurate style and production information throughout the production lifecycle.
- Update style information with the correct care codes.
- Release UPC information for new styles intended for overseas production.
- Follow up with vendors on zipper orders and delivery dates.
- Coordinate smocking approvals with vendors.
- Request bridal fabric swatches and fabric pulls as needed.
- Review and approve care-label submissions provided by overseas vendors.
- Assist with TOP fittings as needed.
- Order zippers and monitor vendor delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate zipper inventory and identify replenishment needs.
- Order care labels on a weekly basis.
- Review style information to ensure care codes are accurate and up to date.
- Approve care labels for overseas production according to approved style information.
- File and maintain specifications, pre-production paperwork, and related production documentation.
- Save marker files to the appropriate shared drive and maintain organized digital production files.
- Receive TOPs into FC and ensure all required documentation and imagery are properly recorded.
- Add TOP photographs to applicable tech packs.
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Comfortable in working in a fast-paced environment, flexible in changing direction as needed.
- Proficient in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Candidate must be highly organized with ability to prioritize with a sense of urgency .
- Candidate must be a team player, willing and able to work cross-functionally with multiple departments.
- Dynamic problem solving and project management skills.
- Strong understanding of apparel production processes, including domestic and overseas manufacturing is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple styles, vendors, POs, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable communicating with domestic and international vendors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Production, Quality Control, Product Development, and other internal teams.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3 years’ domestic garment production experience
- Education or certification ingarment manufacturing is a plus
- Extremely proficient with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Full Circle experience is preferred
- Able to work and think independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent follow-through and attention to detail
