Senior Organizer- UAW Organizing Department
The UAW is seeking a seasoned Senior Organizer. This role involves strategizing, mentoring, and working closely with a team of dedicated staff and members to support workers in winning their union, first contracts, and building collective power. This position is for organizing in the Manufacturing & Industrial and various other sectors. Key Responsibilities
- Conducting broad and intensive outreach efforts to non-union workers
- Building one-to-one relationships with workers and establishing trust
- Identifying and developing leaders to guide and lead their campaign
- Conducting individual and group meetings with workers to discuss and plan organizing campaigns
- Motivating individual workers and groups of workers to take collective public action
- Work with top staff to oversee both new organizing campaigns and contract campaigns, ensuring cohesive efforts to win first contracts
- Work closely with other leads to develop, execute and revise campaign strategies to ensure victory
- Train temporary organizers and staff on organizing fundamentals.
- Exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills in collaborative settings, fostering a supportive and efficient team environment
- Work with other leads to help move a team forward on a day-to-day basis
- Develop campaign materials such as raps, leaflets, and emails
JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Willingness to conduct house visits and site visits
- Ability to work independently, solve problems, and manage time and priorities
- Good listener, strong verbal and written communication skills
- An unwavering commitment to building a fighting, member-led union
- 3-5 years’ minimum experience with new organizing and contract campaigns
- Proven ability to motivate workers in struggle
- Familiarity with basic labor law
- Flexibility to work long hours, including nights and weekends
- Ability to do extensive travel, if necessary
- Prior experience executing strikes is highly preferred
- Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and demands
- Drafting and proofreading copy for internal and external dissemination
- Aptitude for mentoring and fostering strong teams
- Strong interpersonal skills that support a respectful and positive work environment
- Ability to find solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to work independently, solve problems, and manage time and priorities is a necessity
- Basic understanding or proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Forms) and social media and media outreach to supervise and direct such work
- Preference given to UAW members in continuous good standing of the International Union for a period of (1) year, pursuant to Article 14, section 3 of the UAW Constitution
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
