Overview
Join our dynamic mental health team as a Mental Health Therapist, where your expertise will empower individuals and families to overcome challenges and achieve wellness. This role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver comprehensive psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and behavioral health services across diverse populations. You will be instrumental in providing compassionate, evidence-based care through individual, group, and family counseling, utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis. Your work will help foster resilience and recovery in patients facing mental health issues, developmental disabilities, trauma, and chronic pain.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions employing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, addiction counseling, grief counseling, and gender issues counseling.
- Provide crisis management and crisis intervention to stabilize patients experiencing acute mental health episodes or emergencies.
- Develop personalized treatment plans integrating psychotherapy techniques with medication management collaboration when appropriate (psychopharmacology).
- Facilitate specialized therapies including child & family counseling, working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities, or in pediatric settings.
- Maintain meticulous medical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations; record patient progress, medical records, and behavioral health data accurately for ongoing case management.
- Engage in clinical research initiatives to improve therapeutic approaches; collect data for continuous quality improvement and outcome measurement.
Experience
- Proven experience delivering psychotherapy in outpatient or inpatient settings with a focus on behavioral health or mental health counseling.
- Strong background in working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or autism spectrum disorder, and those experiencing PTSD or chronic pain.
- Hands-on experience with crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols in clinical environments.
- Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical terminology related to mental health care.
- Experience utilizing telehealth platforms for remote therapy sessions; comfortable adapting therapeutic techniques to virtual environments.
- Knowledge of social work principles combined with skills in case management to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using DSM criteria; skilled in behavior management techniques and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
