Duties
- Greet guests warmly, present menus, and provide detailed descriptions of dishes and drinks to enhance their dining experience
- Take accurate orders using POS systems such as Micros ensuring timely and efficient processing of sales transactions
- Serve food and beverages
- Upsell menu items and specials to maximize sales opportunities and elevate guest satisfaction
- Manage table settings, clear dishes, buss tables, and assist with food handling to uphold sanitation standards
- Process cash and card payments accurately, handle cash handling responsibilities, and provide correct change
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure food safety, proper food preparation, and timely delivery of orders
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace in compliance with sanitation regulations; support food industry best practices
- Foster positive guest relations through attentive service, addressing questions about menu items such as wine knowledge or cocktail ingredients
- Assist with host/hostess duties when needed by welcoming guests and managing reservations via OpenTable or similar systems
Skills
- Proven experience in food service roles within restaurants.
- Strong knowledge of POS systems like Micros for efficient transaction processing
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, energetic approach that creates a welcoming atmosphere
- Ability to multitask effectively using time management skills during busy service hours
- Basic math skills for handling sales transactions accurately and managing cash handling responsibilities
- Food safety certification and understanding of sanitation standards essential for maintaining hygiene standards
- Culinary experience or kitchen familiarity is a plus to better coordinate with kitchen staff and assist in food prep when needed
- Strong communication skills to engage guests confidently while upselling menu items or explaining specials
