Description:
Position Description: Revolution Workshop is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Development
to lead all fundraising, marketing, and communications efforts. As a member of the leadership team, this
role is responsible for building and executing a comprehensive revenue strategy that integrates
institutional funding, individual giving, corporate partnerships, and brand visibility.
The Director of Development will oversee a growing team and external partners, ensuring alignment
across fundraising, storytelling, and community engagement. This role requires a leader who can move
fluidly between strategy and execution—developing high-level plans while directly managing key
relationships, proposals, and campaigns.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Institutional Giving and Grants Strategy
-
Lead the overall institutional funding strategy, including foundation, corporate, and government grants
-
Manage and grow a robust grant pipeline

Lead all grant application development and submissions including writing compelling and comprehensive grant narratives

Develop reporting schedule and compliance with Program team to ensure high-quality submissions and strong funder relationships

Serve as a primary relationship manager for key foundation and institutional partners

Align grant strategy with program outcomes, workforce development priorities, and organizational growth goals

Individual Giving and Corporate Sponsorships

Develop and execute a comprehensive individual giving strategy, including annual appeals, recurring giving, and mid-level donor pipelines

Manage relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, and key stakeholders
-
Partner with the Executive Director and Board to cultivate and steward high-level donors

Oversee corporate sponsorship strategy, including prospecting, engagement, and fulfillment

Build systems and strategies to grow donor retention, engagement, and lifetime value Marketing, Communications, and Events

Lead the organization’s marketing and communications strategy to support fundraising, recruitment, and brand visibility in collaboration with our Marketing Consultants

Oversee digital communications, including email campaigns, newsletters, and social media

Collaborate with Marketing Consultants and internal staff to ensure consistent, compelling storytelling and brand alignment

Guide the development of key materials, including impact reports, sponsorship decks, campaigns, and website content

Ensure communications effectively elevate participant outcomes, alumni stories, and employer partnerships

Lead and project manage Annual Fundraiser and other major donor events in collaboration with internal staff and external consultants as necessary
Team Leadership and Development:

Supervise and support development staff, including the Development Associate and Community Engagement Manager

Oversee donor database management (Salesforce), reporting systems, and fundraising dashboards

Ensure strong internal systems for tracking proposals, reporting deadlines, donor engagement and campaign performance

Collaborate closely with Finance and Programs teams to align budgets, grant reporting, and revenue projections

Build and refine internal processes to support a growing and high-functioning development team
Organizational Leadership:

Serve as a member of the leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy, growth planning, and cross-department collaboration

Partner with Program staff to align funding strategies with program outcomes, impact data, and participant success stories

Support board engagement in fundraising, including development of a Board Development Committee and major gift strategy

Represent Revolution Workshop externally with funders, partners, and community stakeholders

Lead the development of systems that integrate storytelling, data, and impact across the organization

Requirements:
Qualifications:
Required
A minimum 5 years nonprofit or related work experience
Demonstrated experience owning and achieving annual fundraising goals across multiple
revenue streams (institutional, individual, and/or corporate)
Proven success managing institutional funding pipelines, including foundation, corporate, and
government grants
Experience cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors, funders, corporate
partners, and board members
Experience designing and executing annual fundraising strategies and campaigns, including
donor acquisition, retention, and growth
Experience managing or collaborating across marketing, communications, and storytelling
functions
Experience supervising staff and/or managing cross-functional teams
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and
stakeholders simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex
programmatic work into compelling, fundable narratives
Experience working with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and using data to inform fundraising
strategy and track performance
Ability to move fluidly between strategic planning and hands-on execution
Strong alignment with Revolution Workshop’s mission and experience working with or alongside
underserved communities using strengths-based, trauma-informed approaches
Preferred
3-5 years of experience in nonprofit development and fundraising, with increasing levels of
responsibility
Familiarity with workforce development, skilled trades, or economic mobility programming
Experience supporting or engaging a Board of Directors in fundraising and donor strategy
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree
Salary
$85,000 - $105,000
