Amanda's European Café is a small, growing café on the Boise Bench. We're hiring a Sous Chef to work alongside owner Amanda Turner and to help us open for evening service.
No formal training or culinary degree required.
This is a hands-on role in a small operation. You'll be cooking most of your shift, and you'll also own the systems that keep a kitchen running: prep lists, ordering, inventory, vendor relationships, and food safety. Our menu changes with the seasons, and you'll work directly with Amanda on what goes on it. If you have ideas, there's room here to actually use them.
Responsibilities
- Cook and prep in a commercial kitchen during service
- Help develop and launch our evening service
- Manage ordering, receiving, and inventory
- Maintain vendor relationships and stock levels
- Uphold food safety and cleanliness standards
- Collaborate on seasonal menu development
- Help train and support kitchen staff as we grow
What we're looking for
- Some commercial kitchen experience (line cook, prep, pastry, or similar)
- Some experience leading or training other people
- No culinary degree, formal training, or certifications required
- Organized enough to own day-to-day ordering and inventory
- Available for a mix of day and evening shifts, including weekends
- Comfortable in a small team where everyone wears multiple hats
- A good attitude. This matters to us more than any line on a resume, and we mean that.

Where you start in the range depends on your experience and how much of the kitchen you take on. It moves up as you take on more.
