Position: Manager, School Finance
Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Compensation: Range $75,000 - $90,000
Reporting to: Director of Finance

Location: Remote, with occasional travel. Residence between North Thornton, CO and Cheyenne, WY

Key Responsibilities:
- The School Finance Manager may include, but not limited to, the following job tasks:
- Accounting & Financial Operations
- Prepare and post journal entries to accurately record financial transactions
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts by the 15th of each month
- Ensure office managers complete Student Generate Funds (SGF) reconciliations by the 10th with signed documentation
- Import payroll general ledger data from Paycom into Sage
- Set up and manage vendors in Sage/Avid
- Review purchase requisitions in Avid to ensure proper coding
- Calculate lease/rent obligations
- Process PTO cash-outs and rollovers
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting for:
- Board of Directors (budgets, financials, FAC reports)
- Finance Advisory Committees (FAC)
- Authorizers (budgets, quarterly reports, audits, contract-required reporting)
- State reporting requirements (e.g., WDE601, WDE680, WDE109K, CDE Data Pipeline, PERA, audits)
- Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Develop and manage school budgets in collaboration with Director of Finance, school leadership, and board treasurers:
- Initial budgets
- Amended budgets
- Supplemental budgets (as needed)
- Upload and maintain budgets in Sage
- Audit, Tax & External Relations
- Serve as liaison with external auditors for:
- Annual audits
- IRS Form 990
- Other financial reviews and projects
- Board & Stakeholder Engagement
- Attend and present at public board meetings
- Serve as the financial representative for Academica Mountain West
- Present financial reports, budgets, and key insights
- Participate in monthly/quarterly meetings with school administrators and office managers
- Training & Internal Collaboration
- Provide training and ongoing support to school office managers
- Attend internal Academica accounting meetings
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Finance or Accounting and/or 5 years of Experience in School Finance
- Experience in SAGE accounting software
- Experience in K-12 charter school finance or educational service providers
- Familiarity with Colorado and Wyoming Department of Education Chart of Accounts
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Colorado and/or Wyoming Department of Education chart of accounts
- Direct experience in charter school finance
- Proficiency in Sage accounting software
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
