The following contracted position will be available

Elementary Emotional Support Teacher
Radnor Elementary School
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Pennsylvania teacher certification – Special Education – K-12 or PK-8
-
Knowledge of state and federal regulations and legal issues and procedures related to provision of special services (Chapter 14, Chapter 15 and IDEA/IDEIA)
-
Familiarity with and/or willingness to learn computer/technology use and web-based IEP writing
-
Knowledge and experience related to inclusion, flexible grouping, and differentiated instruction
-
Knowledge and experience working with students with emotional/social needs
-
Knowledge and experience with writing Positive Behavior Support Plans
-
Experience running social skills lessons/groups
-
Excellent communication skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Plan and present a program of study that meets the individual needs of students
-
Instruct with an emphasis on hands-on learning methods
-
Instruct with an emphasis on relevancy of subject matter in the every-day world
-
Provide climate conducive to learning, stressing safety, responsibility and skill learning
-
Develop lessons with an emphasis on active student learning
-
Instruct with the use of technology
-
Assess, prescribe and evaluate student performance based upon objective centered instruction
-
Work collaboratively with staff to develop accommodations and modifications of the curriculum
-
Work collaboratively with staff to develop alternative ways to address student learning and emotional needs
-
Assist regular education teachers and paraprofessionals with implementing Positive Behavior Support Plans throughout the school environment
-
Adhere to state, district, and school policies
-
Communicate with parents and community on a regular basis
-
Work on school and district curriculum committees, as needed
-
Carry out other assignments as designated by the principal
