We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated part-time Certified Tutor to join our adolescent residential mental health treatment team. In this role, you will provide individualized academic instruction and educational support to adolescents receiving treatment, helping them stay engaged with their schoolwork and achieve academic success during their time in care. You will serve as a liaison between each student's home school, family, and the clinical treatment team to coordinate assignments, monitor academic progress, and facilitate a smooth transition back to the classroom upon discharge. Your work will play a vital role in supporting both the educational and therapeutic goals of each adolescent, promoting confidence, stability, and long-term success.
- Oversee and facilitate students' online learning in a structured classroom environment.
- Provide individualized academic support, tutoring, and assistance with coursework to help students remain on track with their educational goals.
- Serve as the primary liaison between each student's home-state school, parents/guardians, and the treatment team to coordinate assignments, academic accommodations, and educational planning.
- Monitor, review, and provide feedback on homework and assignments, ensuring work is complete and accurate before submission to the student's home school.
- Track student academic progress and regularly communicate updates to schools, families, and the treatment team as appropriate.
- Measure and document student progress toward academic goals, preparing progress reports and educational updates as required.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, academic participation, incidents, accidents, and other required documentation in accordance with licensing standards, educational requirements, and program policies.
- Foster a safe, structured, respectful, and supportive classroom environment that promotes learning, emotional well-being, and positive behavior.
- Implement classroom behavior expectations and interventions in accordance with program policies and behavioral health best practices.
- Collaborate with therapists, case managers, nursing staff, and other multidisciplinary team members to support each adolescent's individualized treatment and educational plan.
- Encourage student engagement, confidence, and personal responsibility while supporting successful reintegration into their home school following discharge.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Teaching license corresponding to ages 12 - 18
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills
- Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with families and students Proven ability to maintain a safe and studious classroom environment
