Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing patient medical records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with healthcare regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and systems, as well as experience in a medical office environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize patient medical records, ensuring they are up-to-date and accurate.
- Review and verify the completeness of medical records for compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Process requests for patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation of patient care.
- Implement and maintain electronic health record (EHR) systems to enhance efficiency.
- Assist in training staff on proper record-keeping procedures and use of medical record systems.
- Conduct regular audits of medical records to identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
- Respond to inquiries regarding medical records from patients, staff, and external agencies.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of medical office procedures.
- Experience working with medical records systems or electronic health record (EHR) software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with healthcare professionals and patients.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations regarding patient information.
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not required.
- Certification in health information management or related field is a plus.
