BeeperMD is currently seeking a qualified and experienced School Nurse. The School Nurse is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff in a Nursery through 8th Grade educational environment. The nurse will provide direct nursing care, manage student health records, administer medications, respond to medical emergencies, communicate with families and healthcare providers, and support the overall health needs of the school community.
The School Nurse is expected to work according to the school's published academic calendar and daily operating schedule, including adherence to all school closures, religious holidays, federal holidays, school breaks, teacher planning days (as applicable), and weekends.
This position may be filled by a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) with an active Florida nursing license.
- Provide nursing assessment and care for students who become ill or injured during the school day.
- Evaluate and manage student health concerns and determine appropriate interventions.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies.
- Maintain accurate medication administration records.
- Provide first aid and emergency medical care when needed.
- Monitor students with chronic health conditions, including but not limited to asthma, diabetes, severe allergies, seizure disorders, and other medical needs.
Develop and maintain Individualized Health Care Plans (IHCPs) when appropriate.

- Maintain confidential student health records in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Review and monitor student immunization records and health documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Florida Department of Health requirements and school health regulations.
Track and maintain emergency contact information and medical alerts.

- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student illnesses, injuries, medications, and health concerns.
- Coordinate with physicians, healthcare providers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Collaborate with school administration, teachers, counselors, and support staff to address student health needs.
Participate in school meetings regarding student health and safety when appropriate.

- Respond to medical emergencies and activate emergency response procedures when necessary.
- Maintain emergency medical supplies and first aid equipment.
- Assist in developing and implementing school health and emergency response protocols.
Ensure availability and maintenance of emergency medications and equipment, including EpiPens, AEDs, and emergency care supplies.

- Promote healthy habits and wellness among students and staff.
- Assist with health screenings as required.
- Support communicable disease prevention and infection control measures.
Provide health-related education and guidance to students, staff, and families as appropriate.

- Maintain inventory of medications, medical supplies, and health office equipment.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required by school administration.
- Follow all school policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
Perform additional duties related to student health and safety as assigned.

- Active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Ability to assess and respond appropriately to medical situations involving children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional standards.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

- Previous school nursing, pediatric, family practice, urgent care, or community health experience.
- Experience working with children from Nursery through Middle School age groups.
- Familiarity with Florida school health regulations and immunization requirements.
AED Certification.

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the school campus.
Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.

- Hours generally coincide with student attendance and school operations.
- No regular evening, weekend, or holiday work is expected unless specifically required for school events or emergencies.
Observes all school-designated religious holidays, federal holidays, school vacations, and scheduled breaks.
