About This Position
The Senior Business Development position is responsible for driving molecular solution sales across industrial customers throughout the United States. The role owns the national sales target for molecular solutions, develops new industrial accounts, expands strategic customer relationships, and converts customer interest into sustainable commercial business. The ideal candidate combines hands-on molecular biology application experience with a strong track record in business development and an established network in the molecular biological industry.
Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to:
- Own and deliver the annual molecular solution sales target for industrial customers across the United States, including revenue, order intake, and new-account development.
- Prioritize and manage target accounts based on technical fit, enzyme consumption, customization potential, external sourcing needs, and commercial conversion probability.
- Develop new opportunities through prospecting, industry relationships, conferences, referrals, and existing contacts.
- Lead the business-development cycle from initial engagement and needs discovery through technical discussion, sample evaluation, validation, quotation, negotiation, and commercial supply.
- Translate customer workflows in NGS library preparation, qPCR/PCR, cloning, sequencing, oligonucleotide applications, and related molecular biology processes into appropriate enzyme and reagent solutions.
- Build strong relationships with R&D, product management, procurement, and executive stakeholders, and maintain high customer satisfaction throughout evaluation and supply.
- Maintain a disciplined sales pipeline, account plans, visit cadence, opportunity stages, and revenue forecast, and provide timely and accurate updates to the line manager and relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate closely with Application Scientists, R&D, and supply-chain teams to resolve technical questions, manage custom requirements, and ensure reliable delivery.
- Monitor U.S. market trends, competitor activities, and customer product pipelines to identify new growth opportunities and refine the go-to-market approach.
- Represent the company professionally at customer meetings, scientific conferences, and industry events across the United States
Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree or above in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, biotechnology,microbiology, or another life science-related discipline.
Experience:
- At least 3 years of business development or technical sales experience in the life scienceindustry, with demonstrated success in developing industrial accounts.
- Proven experience selling molecular biology reagents, enzymes, kits, workflow components, or related solutions to industrial customers.
- Hands-on laboratory experience with molecular enzyme applications such as NGS,qPCR/PCR, cloning, or related workflows.
- Existing customer relationships in the NGS sequencing industry or sequencing service market are strongly preferred.
- Experience managing long and technically complex sales cycles involving evaluation, validation, procurement qualification, and supply agreement negotiation.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of molecular enzymes, molecular biology workflows, customer applications, competitive products, and industrial purchasing behavior.
- Ability to communicate credibly with scientists and product-development teams.
- Strong prospecting, relationship-building, negotiation, opportunity-management, and closing skills.
- High level of commercial ownership, numerical reasoning, pipeline discipline, and sales forecasting capability.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently across a nationwide territory without direct people-management responsibility.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to work effectively in an international team environment.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and standard business reporting tools.
Other:
Ability and willingness to travel frequently across the United States(mainly travel in CA). California residence is preferred because of the concentration of molecular industry customers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
