illiam James College announces openings for full-time Teaching Faculty Fellows in the Counseling and Behavioral Health Department beginning August 2026. The Fellowship offers a highly competitive salary and opportunities for career advancement at the College.
T
he Teaching Faculty Fellowship aims to recruit, train, and mentor recent graduates who have completed their doctoral degrees in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program preferred, or doctoral degree in counseling or related area with at least one-year full time teaching experience in a graduate counseling program prior to July 1, 2013 (as per CACREP 2024 standards). Applicants with doctoral degrees in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Mental Health Counseling will also be considered. The primary aim of the Fellowship is to cultivate a strong cohort of exceptionally talented and well-trained faculty whose diverse experiences and perspectives have been underrepresented in academic settings. It endeavors to equip Fellows with the skills, knowledge, and expertise to engage in paradigm-shifting and inclusive teaching, advising, and research practices as well as in administrative and leadership positions in academia.
E
ssential Functions
T
eaching Faculty Fellows are involved in teaching, advising, and research supervision of graduate students. Additionally, they participate in didactic training on inclusive teaching and learning designs, strength-based pedagogical approaches, and culturally empowering instructional strategies. Fellows actively engage in professional development, scholarly, and program evaluation activities. They also receive faculty and peer mentorship throughout their enrollment in the program. Of particular interest to the Fellowship are candidates with a background—or interest in developing expertise—with children, adolescents, and families. We are seeking applicants with interest in addressing disparities in these domains and/or whose work has focused on behavioral health equity for unserved groups and underserved communities. Fellows may teach generalist foundational courses in the Counseling and Behavioral Health Department.
E
ducation and Experience
A
pplicants must be recent graduates or early career professionals with doctoral degrees in Counselor Education and Supervision, Counseling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology (with a Master’s degree in Counseling) (including those who will complete their graduate studies by August 2026). Candidates who have not completed their doctoral degree should submit a letter from their program director indicating that they are expected to finish by the time the fellowship starts. We welcome candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, including individuals whose perspectives have been underrepresented in academic settings, as well as those dedicated to fostering inclusive, equitable, and accessible environments and supporting historically underserved communities.

andidates must possess a doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in Counselor Education and Supervision preferably from a CACREP accredited program, or a doctoral degree (i.e., a PsyD, EdD or a PhD) in Counseling or Clinical Psychology (or expect to earn your degree by August 2026). If the doctoral degree is in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, candidates must have completed an APA accredited internship. Furthermore, if the doctoral degree is in Clinical Psychology, candidates must have a Master’s degree in Counseling. Candidates must have earned their degrees within the past 10 years (through August 2026), have teaching and clinical experience, and be licensed or license-eligible in Massachusetts as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or as a Psychologist/Health Services Provider. A demonstrated record of relevant scholarly work is preferred, including community service and engagement, organizational leadership, and innovative and entrepreneurial activities. Successful candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion. ompensation Range: $65,000-$72,000 annually
T
his range represents the College’s good-faith estimate of the compensation for this role. Placement within the range will depend on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Typically, candidates are hired within the lower to mid-point of the range, with the upper end reserved for individuals who bring significant, directly relevant experience and fully meet or exceed the role’s requirements.
