About Highline Mechanical
Highline Mechanical, Inc. is a Jacksonville-based mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC and plumbing on multifamily new-construction and rehab projects across Florida. We work with leading general contractors, move fast, and hold our work to a high standard. Our team is small, experienced, and growing — and we’re looking for a Project Manager who can own their projects from kickoff to closeout.
The Role
You’ll take over from our Estimator and manage the full lifecycle of mechanical construction projects — financial performance, subcontractor relationships, client interaction, client invoicing, material procurement, change order preparation and management, and work quality. You’ll work remotely but travel to project sites as needed, and you’ll report directly to leadership.
This is a role for someone who knows how mechanical projects run, knows how to read the numbers, can maintain subcontractor and client relationships, and takes ownership of outcomes.
What You’ll Do
Project Financials
- Manage project budgets; track costs vs. estimates and report variances
- Prepare and submit change orders with cost justification
- Forecast cash flow and provide regular financial updates and full monthly reporting packages to leadership
Client Invoicing & Collections
- Prepare and submit monthly progress invoices
- Monitor client payments, follow up on outstanding invoices, coordinate with accounting
- Manage retainage schedules and final payment reconciliation
Subcontractors
- Solicit bids, negotiate contracts, manage subcontractor relationships
- Monitor schedule compliance, workmanship, and safety; address issues promptly
- Process pay applications, verify lien waivers, confirm insurance and bonding
Quality & Field Oversight
- Conduct site inspections to verify work quality against specs and code
- Manage material ordering, delivery schedules, and vendor relationships
- Drive punch-list items to resolution; enforce OSHA safety compliance
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 5+ years of construction project management experience with a mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing contractor
- Proven track record managing project budgets of $500K or more, including cost tracking and change orders
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction methods, and building codes
- Proficiency with project management and accounting software (Procore, Microsoft Project, QuickBooks, or similar)
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to job sites across Florida
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable in a remote work environment
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- PMP or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification
- Experience with both commercial and multifamily mechanical projects
