PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse
Deer Valley Surgical and Endoscopy Surgery Center, a beautiful state-of-the-art free-standing ambulatory surgery center located in Phoenix, AZ is seeking experienced PreOp/PACU Registered Nurses.
The PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse, under minimal supervision, performs a variety of duties in the department as a member of the team. Major responsibilities include preparing patients for surgery and providing care for patients post operatively.

Essential skills:
Pre-operative duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage patients’ admission processes to preoperative department
- Assess the status of patients’ health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of patient identification
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are accurate for the procedure scheduled
- Complete admission assessment and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
- Initiate IVs and administer preoperative medications as ordered
Post-operative duties include but are not limited to:
- Assess patients’ condition after a surgery has been performed
- Ensure that all vitals are within normal range
- Develop individualized care plans based on each individual patient’s condition
- Ensure that the all nursing activities are carried out in accordance to individual patient care plan
- Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the surgeon and/or anesthesiologist
- Initiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications
- Determine when patients are ready for discharge based on discharge criteria
- Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies
Skills and Requirements:
- Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state of Arizona
- Minimum 1-year previous experience in PreOP/PACU
- Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
- Current BLS upon hire. ACLS and PALS with 30 days of hire.
- Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
- Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians
