Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our dedicated surgical team. The Operating Room RN plays a vital role in supporting the efficient organization and daily operations of the surgical suite while ensuring compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and facility standards, policies, and procedures. This position is responsible for assisting with the coordination of patient care activities in the operating room, promoting a safe and effective surgical environment, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety for patients and healthcare team members.
Duties
- Organize and prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies are available, properly sterilized, and in safe working order.
- Perform comprehensive preoperative patient assessments and provide perioperative education to patients and their families.
- Deliver safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care while advocating for patient safety throughout the surgical experience.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning, skin preparation, and implementing measures to prevent injury and postoperative complications.
- Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to aseptic technique, infection prevention standards, and established operating room protocols.
- Perform and verify sponge, sharps, and instrument counts in accordance with facility policy and initiate corrective action when discrepancies occur.
- Safely administer medications and accurately document patient care, medications, specimens, and surgical records in the electronic medical record.
- Anticipate the equipment and supply needs of the surgeon and surgical team while ensuring all equipment is functioning properly before use.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and promptly report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain operating room readiness by ensuring surgical suites remain clean, organized, and appropriately stocked.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, regulatory compliance, and accreditation activities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Minimum of two (2) years of Operating Room nursing experience in an ASC or hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practices, sterile technique, and surgical instrumentation.
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented surgical environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience.
- IV therapy skills.
- Experience circulating multiple surgical specialties.
- Experience precepting or orienting new staff.
- Commitment to continuing education and quality improvement.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods, including up to 1–2 hours at a time during surgical procedures.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and assist with patient positioning and transfers as needed.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills required to safely handle surgical instruments and equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operating room environment while maintaining focus and attention to detail.
- Must be available to work occasional overtime.

Pay: $50.00 - $53.00 per hour
