Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assemble meals following standardized recipes and portion controls
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, mixers, slicers, and food processors safely and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen appliances to meet health and safety regulations
- Assist with menu planning by preparing ingredients for upcoming dishes
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and prevent contamination
- Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food and ensuring timely service
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and delivery schedules
Skills
- Proven experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, including slicing, chopping, and cooking methods
- Excellent knife skills and slicing techniques for efficient ingredient preparation
- Familiarity with food safety management practices and safety standards in production environments
- Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining flexibility for special dietary needs
- Experience operating various kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Knowledge of menu planning, meal preparation, and food industry best practices
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with kitchen staff and team members
- Previous restaurant or catering experience is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential
