Valve & Flow Industries is a wholesale distributor of pipe, valves, fittings, and flanges (PVF), and other related industrial supplies for maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO). While we primarily serve the energy market, our customers span across many industries.
About the Role
The inside sales representative is the point of contact for a customer when they need pricing, availability, or have general questions about our PVF product line. At Valve & Flow Industries, we prioritize our customers’ bottom line by our service. The role involves quoting, problem solving, and relationship building. Your goal is simple: take care of the accounts you inherit, win new ones, and keep our business growing at the top of the market.
What You'll Do
- Quote pricing and availability in a timely and accurate manner.
- Learn about our product lines and become familiar with technical details.
- Build and maintain relationships with our customers and vendors.
- Talk through product options with customers and answer their technical questions.
- Be knowledgeable on vendor catalogs to know where to source product lines.
- Work bills of material and other sales leads from first look through to the order.
- Take ownership of customer complaints and stay with them until they are resolved.
- Keep our database current on tasks, sales territories, customer contacts, and end users.
- Watch competitors and industry trends and share what you learn with the rest of the company.
- Visit customers, contacts, and end users, either on your own or alongside an outside sales rep.
- Attend and contribute to sales meetings.
- Help staff trade shows when we need coverage.
- Keep your product knowledge sharp through seminars, vendor training, and continuing education
- Ensure orders ship on time and according to specifications, and alert customers of any changes.
- Prepare and submit the reports, documents, and records our policies require.
- Use standard office equipment, including the computer, order entry terminal, digital scanners, and fax.
- Follow company policy on safety, housekeeping, confidentiality, and quality of work.
- Support our ISO procedures and standards.
- Look for better ways to do the work for continuous improvement efforts.
- Support a positive, collaborative atmosphere across the company.
- Take on other duties as business conditions change and needs come up.
What We're Looking For
You should be able to handle each of the above responsibilities. The items below describe the knowledge, skill, and ability the role calls for.
- Three (3) or more years of direct PVF industry sales experience is required.
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Comfortable working in Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks, and related software.
- Adapt to new software as needed.
- Confident with math the job requires: discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Basic algebra and geometry especially on quotations.
- Able to read and interpret technical procedures, specification sheets, trade publications, and applicable regulations.
- Able to write clear reports, emails, business correspondence, and procedures.
- Comfortable presenting information and fielding questions from customers, vendors, managers, and the public.
- Able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions and work through everyday problems on your own.
- Valid driver's license and a willingness to travel, including occasional international travel.

This role is primarily desk work. You will regularly sit; reach with hands and arms; and talk and listen. You will occasionally stand and walk. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. On occasion, you will lift boxes or similar items in a warehouse setting, generally up to 50 pounds.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
