Position Summary
Buffalo Prairie Care Center is seeking an experienced, dependable, and motivated Maintenance Director to oversee the maintenance and safety of our skilled nursing facility. The Maintenance Director is responsible for ensuring the building, equipment, grounds, and systems are maintained in a safe, clean, and efficient manner while complying with all federal, state, and local regulations.
This position plays a vital role in providing a safe, comfortable environment for our residents, visitors, and staff.

Essential Job Duties
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the facility.
- Oversee preventative maintenance schedules for all building systems and equipment.
- Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and mechanical systems.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, CMS, state, and local safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and correct deficiencies promptly.
- Maintain fire alarm, sprinkler, emergency generator, and life safety systems.
- Coordinate inspections and work with outside contractors as needed.
- Supervise facility grounds, parking areas, sidewalks, and snow/ice removal when necessary.
- Maintain maintenance logs, inspection records, and work orders.
- Assist with room renovations, painting, flooring, and carpentry projects.
- Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies after hours when necessary.
- Manage maintenance inventory, supplies, and departmental budget.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and drills.
- Ensure resident rooms and common areas remain safe, functional, and well maintained.
- Work closely with department managers to address maintenance requests.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous maintenance experience in healthcare, long-term care, or commercial facilities preferred.
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Understanding of life safety codes and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Must successfully complete required background screening.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, and lifting.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations as needed.
