Responsibilities
- Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profit organizations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws
- Conduct detailed financial statement preparation, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Perform audits and internal control assessments to verify accuracy of financial data and ensure regulatory compliance accounting standards are met
- Manage corporate accounting functions such as general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing using accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage or Xero
- Provide expert guidance on estate planning, wills, trusts & estate law to assist clients with wealth transfer strategies
- Analyze financial data to support mergers & acquisitions, investment decisions, and financial planning initiatives
- Maintain thorough documentation for tax reporting, regulatory reporting, and audit purposes while ensuring adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of tax law, tax compliance, tax reporting, and individual tax preparation techniques
- Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other financial management tools
- Expertise in corporate accounting practices including double entry bookkeeping and general ledger reconciliation
- Excellent analysis skills for financial report writing and interpretation as well as account reconciliation and account analysis
- Demonstrated experience in auditing processes, regulatory reporting, and financial statement preparation
- Effective client communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly and professionally
- Familiarity with securities law, private equity considerations, asset management strategies, and non-profit accounting practices
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities such as budgeting, payroll management, financial analysis, and asset management with precision
