Transportation Driver
The School Driver at SEC Transportation is responsible for monitoring and operating school transportation vehicles, ensuring the safety and welfare of all passengers, including special needs students. This role provides assistance to both students and Transportation Support Professionals during daily routes and ensures compliance with safety protocols and SEC policies.
In this position you will:
· Perform routine vehicle monitoring and provide assistance to special needs students and Transportation Support Professionals during daily transportation routes.
· Ensure the safe loading and unloading of students, including the operation of specialized equipment such as wheelchair lifts, tie-downs, and seat belts.
· Assist in maintaining hygienic standards on the vehicle by cleaning and sanitizing seats, belts, floors, and other areas as needed.
· Intervene to prevent or de-escalate student behavior issues during transport, ensuring the safety of all passengers.
· Enforce SEC policies and procedures as directed by the Transportation Director, maintaining order and discipline on vehicles and at pick-up/drop-off stops.
· Participate in mandated meetings and training programs related to first aid, safety, emergency procedures, and SEC protocols.
· Collaborate with the Transportation Support Professional to assist with emergency evacuation procedures and operate a two-way radio system.
· Establish and maintain effective communication with Transportation Support Professionals, school staff, parents, and students.
· Complete incident reports and document any injuries or issues that occur during transport.
Nice to have:
· Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to graduation from high school and experience with special needs students is preferred
· Prior professional driving experience with special need clients
· An understanding of California vehicle code, education code and board policies.
Must have:
· Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License, Possession of a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate within the first 3 months of employment.
· Must be able to pass a live scan background check.
Compensation:
· 18.00 -25.00 an hour depending on experience
