Scientific Polymer Products is a specialty polymer manufacturer producing custom and research-grade polymers, monomers, and related materials under an ISO 9001-certified quality management system.
The Role
We are seeking a Chemist to join our laboratory and production operations. This is a deliberately varied position: you will move between polymer synthesis, analytical testing, and production support according to project and production needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Synthesize and characterize specialty polymers, monomers, and custom materials for both standard product lines and customer-specific orders
- Perform analytical and quality-control testing to verify that products meet specification, using our in-house methods: GPC, FTIR, GC, GC/MS, DSC, viscometry, and titration
- Support production and scale-up, including batch preparation, process troubleshooting, and ensuring consistency from bench to finished product
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, results, and batch records
- Contribute to the development and refinement of new products and formulations
- Maintain laboratory equipment and adhere to all chemical safety and handling protocols
Qualifications
- B.S. in Chemistry (coursework or experience in polymer chemistry is an asset)
- 0–7 years of relevant laboratory experience; both recent graduates and mid-career candidates are encouraged to apply
- Working familiarity with common analytical techniques, ideally including several of those listed above
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems, and experience with cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice), are a plus
- Strong hands-on laboratory skills and a commitment to careful, consistent documentation
- Adaptability and initiative in a collaborative environment where priorities shift with the work
- A safety-conscious approach to handling chemicals and operating laboratory equipment
Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
