Key responsibilities
- Customer service: Greet customers, answer questions, make product recommendations, and assist with carrying out purchases.
- Point-of-sale operations: Operate a computerized cash register, process payments, and manage financial transactions.
- Inventory management: Unload and stock merchandise, rotate products, and ensure shelves are neat and fully stocked.
- Store maintenance: Keep the store clean and organized, which may include sweeping, dusting, and maintaining displays.
- Age verification and compliance: Check customer identification for age verification and deny service to those who are underage or intoxicated.
- Inventory and receiving: Receive shipments and manage inventory levels to ensure products are available.
Required skills and abilities
- Customer service skills: Ability to provide friendly and prompt service to customers.
- Communication skills: Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing to communicate with customers and management.
- Physical ability: Capable of standing for extended periods, walking, lifting, and carrying products, sometimes up to 60 pounds.
- Math and basic computer skills: Ability to handle cash and operate the point-of-sale system.
- Compliance knowledge: Understanding of local and state laws regarding alcohol sales and service.
