Position Overview
God's Little Treasures Childcare & Preschool Center is seeking a dependable, organized, and caring Food Service & Kitchen Assistant to join our team. This position plays an essential role in supporting the health and well-being of the children in our care by assisting with the preparation, service, and sanitation of nutritious meals and snacks in a safe and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and serving of nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and snacks in accordance with center menus and applicable nutritional guidelines.
- Prepare food according to established recipes, portion sizes, and food safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, cookware, food preparation areas, and kitchen equipment.
- Follow all Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS), Department of Agriculture, licensing, and health department regulations regarding food preparation, storage, sanitation, and meal service.
- Properly receive, store, label, rotate, and monitor food inventory using safe food handling practices.
- Assist with meal distribution to classrooms while ensuring proper food temperatures and portion sizes are maintained.
- Monitor kitchen supplies and notify management when food or cleaning supplies need replenished.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is operated safely and report any maintenance concerns promptly.
- Support daily cleaning and sanitizing procedures throughout the kitchen and food service areas.
- Maintain accurate food service records and documentation as required.
- Work cooperatively with teachers and staff to accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions, and individual nutritional needs.
- Follow all center policies regarding health, safety, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Perform additional kitchen and food service duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in food service, commercial kitchens, childcare centers, schools, healthcare facilities, or hospitality is preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform tasks requiring standing, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the workday.
- Ability to obtain all required Pennsylvania child care clearances.
- Willingness to complete all required Department of Human Services (DHS) and food safety training.
- Willingness to complete all required Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) certifications, professional development courses, and ongoing training.
