Fleet Manager – Trucking Operations
Fortune Carriers Inc. is seeking an experienced, organized, and results-driven Fleet Manager to oversee daily fleet operations and help maximize truck productivity, driver performance, equipment utilization, and profitability.
This is a hands-on management position for someone who understands the trucking industry, can solve problems quickly, and knows how to keep drivers, dispatchers, maintenance teams, and customers aligned.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations for assigned company trucks and drivers
- Monitor truck productivity, weekly gross revenue, miles, RPM, fuel usage, and downtime
- Ensure drivers are dispatched efficiently and remain productive
- Communicate daily with drivers, dispatchers, safety, accounting, and maintenance
- Track driver availability, home-time requests, hours of service, and equipment status
- Address breakdowns, service issues, accidents, delays, and operational problems
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and equipment availability
- Review driver performance, fuel efficiency, idle time, route execution, and service quality
- Help reduce empty miles, unnecessary expenses, and truck downtime
- Ensure drivers follow company policies, DOT requirements, and customer procedures
- Assist with driver retention, coaching, performance improvement, and disciplinary matters
- Prepare weekly fleet performance reports for company leadership
- Support the growth and expansion of the fleet
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in trucking fleet management, dispatch, or transportation operations
- Strong understanding of OTR, regional, and local trucking operations
- Experience managing company drivers and owner-operators
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours of service, ELD systems, maintenance, and safety procedures
- Ability to manage multiple drivers, trucks, and urgent situations at the same time
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working with transportation management systems, GPS, ELD, email, and spreadsheets
- Must be dependable, organized, accountable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with dry van, reefer, or hazmat transportation is a strong advantage
