Job Description:
Title: Youth Employment Specialist
Classification: Non-Exempt
Salary: $45,000/yr
Scope of Position: The Youth Employment Specialist is a professional position dedicated to promoting youth programs and services to the community, businesses, and youth participants. Youth Employment Specialists support and assist in all areas related to gaining and/or retaining employment and career advancement for youth aged participants. Acting as a liaison between local employers and program participants, Youth Employment Specialist team members succeed by providing a positive experience of matching job seekers desiring suitable and sustainable employment and/or training, with employers; all while maintaining compliance with Federal, State and Local policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:

Provide employment and training assistance/guidance to young adults through consistent and comprehensive case management and follow-up to ensure positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contract, which includes but is not limited to:

Determine WIOA eligibility and complete required documentation for enrollment

Case Manage participants and employers to assist in eliminating challenges to
gaining and retaining employment

Work with the team to develop employer strategies that result in work-based
learning, job placement, and employer services

Provide referrals to appropriate community service or social service agencies

Prepare and deliver customized presentations/workshops to job seekers

Collect documentation to attain performance goals

Provide great customer service to all customers (job seekers/employers/partners) in
the workforce system

Develop and manage outreach to young adults, employers, and the community

Learn and implement Federal, State and Local WIOA policies and procedures related
To EDSI, WIOA, and other contracted grants

Contact employers by phone, referral or in person to schedule face-to-face meetings
- Review participant employment skills and match with active positions in MoJobs

Represent EDSI at conferences, meetings and targeted social functions as required

Work under the guidance of supervisor to implement the regional vision

Education and Experience Requirements:
-
Career counseling or Case Management experience preferred

Previous experience working with the young adult population preferred

Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts

Ability to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to maintain flexibility as needs of contract or contractor require

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Human Resources, or related
area preferred

Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

Valid Driver’s License and an insured automobile are required
