Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using safe lifting practices and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; accurately record findings in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper handling and adherence to HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, utilizing memory care techniques and behavioral health strategies.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures when required, collecting blood samples following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Transfer patients safely using patient transfer methods suited for various needs, including heavy lifting and manual handling procedures.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical documentation systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards.
- Assist in emergency situations by supporting CPR or basic life support (BLS) procedures and responding promptly to urgent care needs.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, or long-term care facilities to deliver comprehensive patient service.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by adhering to infection control standards and assisting with aseptic techniques during procedures like catheter care or wound management.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care settings.
- Critical care experience including ICU or trauma center exposure is highly valued for this role.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/Epic systems) and medical documentation practices is essential for accurate recordkeeping.
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs enhances your ability to provide personalized care.
- Knowledge of geriatrics, dementia care, hospice care, and memory care approaches is preferred to support vulnerable populations effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic life support (BLS), CPR, phlebotomy, and other clinical skills required for comprehensive patient support.
- Strong communication skills for caregiving roles involving patient interaction and team collaboration across outpatient clinics or inpatient units.
