Duties
- Prepare and review individual, business, and trust tax returns with precision and attention to detail.
- Represent clients before the IRS during audits, collections, and appeals, ensuring their rights are protected.
- Provide expert advice on estate planning, wills, trusts, and estate law to optimize clients’ financial legacies.
- Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, to support tax planning and compliance.
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance for corporate clients.
- Perform account reconciliation and general ledger analysis using accounting software like QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar tools.
- Support mergers & acquisitions activities through due diligence and financial report interpretation to facilitate strategic decision-making.
Skills
- Deep understanding of tax accounting principles, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and double entry bookkeeping.
- Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other financial management tools.
- Strong knowledge of estate planning strategies, securities law, non-profit accounting, and public accounting practices.
- Excellent analysis skills for financial report writing and interpretation; adept at account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Experience with auditing processes, regulatory reporting standards, payroll management, and asset management.
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly; skilled in financial analysis and report interpretation.
- Familiarity with LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), private equity transactions, mergers & acquisitions, and investment strategies is a plus.
