Monday–Thursday, 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM. Four ten-hour days. Every weekend is a three-day weekend.
Your forty hours are done Thursday night. Friday is available and every Friday hour is time-and-a-half.
Base $27.00–$28.50/hr depending on demonstrated setup capability, plus a $1.50/hr second-shift differential — $28.50–$30.00/hr effective. Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on the full rate, differential included.
Realistic annual earnings: $77,000 – $85,000.
We are not going to run out of work

We machine precision components for the M1 Abrams, Bradley, AMPV, and Paladin — direct to BAE Systems, General Dynamics Land Systems, and the Defense Logistics Agency. That work runs on multi-year government contracts with delivery schedules booked out, not on a commercial order book that can go quiet in a quarter. These vehicle fleets are funded and in service for decades. When the commercial machining market softens, our schedule does not.
Wisconsin Ordnance Works has been machining in Oshkosh since 1963 — sixty-three years in the same town, through every downturn in that span. Veteran-owned. AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 registered.
We are about 30 people. You will know everyone's name and the owner will know yours. The parts you run leave this building and go onto armored vehicles.
What you'll do
Set up and run horizontal machining centers on Fanuc control. Work from prints on alloy steel and forgings. Hold tolerance, inspect your own work, and keep the job moving on second shift with limited supervision — which is the actual job.
Second shift here is not babysitting a machine somebody else set up. You will be making setup decisions.
What you need
- 3+ years setting up and running CNC mills. HMC experience preferred. (or equivalent formal education)
- Comfortable on Fanuc controls: work offsets, tool offsets, editing at the machine.
- Read prints and apply GD&T.
- Inspect your own work with mics, calipers, indicators, and gage pins.
- U.S. Person as defined by ITAR. Hard requirement — we hold controlled technical data.
That is the list. We are not asking you to weld, run a forklift, or program in CAM. If you can set up a horizontal, read a print, and check your own parts, we want to talk.
