Bailey Systems is a growing IT company servicing the Metropolitan VA/DC area. We are seeking an experienced IT Support / Field Technician to join our team.
This position will primarily provide help desk support for our clients throughout the Metro VA/DC area, with work performed both remotely and onsite at client locations as needed. This is not strictly a help desk position. The role requires a technician who is comfortable providing remote support, working directly with end users, and performing hands-on technical work at client sites.
The IT Support / Field Technician will serve as a key point of contact for IT-related incidents, service requests, onsite troubleshooting, and field implementation work. This individual will be responsible for supporting users, maintaining computer and printing environments, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and assisting with network, camera, and infrastructure-related projects.
The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently in the field. This role requires someone who can move between help desk support, onsite client support, and hands-on technical project work as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Provide remote and onsite IT support for client offices and field locations.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for IT-related incidents and service requests.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, printer, and connectivity issues.
- Install, configure, support, and maintain Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android devices.
- Set up workstations, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other user equipment.
- Diagnose hardware issues and replace defective components when needed.
- Assist with network setup, configuration, and troubleshooting at client sites.
- Configure and support network equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and related infrastructure.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of IP cameras, access control equipment, and other low-voltage/security technology as needed.
- Support software applications, Microsoft 365, email, and other business systems.
- Accurately record, update, and document service requests using the IT service desk system.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal IT staff on projects, service tickets, and day-to-day client needs.
- Create, maintain, and update support documentation for users and internal teams.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with both technical and non-technical users.
- Maintain a high level of customer service and ensure clients are supported efficiently and professionally.
- Manage changing priorities in a fast-paced service environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills:
- 1–3 years of previous hands-on IT support experience preferred.
- Experience providing both remote and onsite technical support.
- Strong knowledge of PC hardware, Windows, macOS, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft 365.
- Working knowledge of basic networking, including IP addressing, VLANs, switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls.
- Experience configuring or troubleshooting network equipment preferred.
- Experience with IP cameras, access control, or low-voltage systems is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn new software, systems, and hardware platforms quickly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills and a professional client-facing demeanor.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload with limited supervision.
- Ability to work independently in the field and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to take initiative.

This position is best suited for someone who enjoys a mix of help desk support, field work, client interaction, and hands-on technical implementation. Candidates should be comfortable working remotely and traveling to client sites throughout the Metro VA/DC area as needed.
