Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and other treatments following strict protocols and medical documentation standards.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as specimen collection, laboratory processing, and medical imaging procedures to support accurate diagnoses.
- Manage wound care, catheterization, tube feeding, and ventilator support to ensure optimal patient comfort and safety.
- Provide specialized care for patients with complex needs including dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory care, and behavioral health conditions.
- Support discharge planning by coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth transitions from hospital or long-term care facilities to home or community settings.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies in compliance with HIPAA regulations while documenting medical records accurately and securely.
Skills
- Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; familiarity with Level II Trauma Center protocols is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Skilled in using EMR/EHR systems like Cerner, Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for efficient documentation and patient management.
- Demonstrated ability to perform IV insertions, phlebotomy, sterile techniques, suturing, and catheter care with precision.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with the ability to manage acute pain and urgent care needs effectively.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and long-term care regulations to ensure safe environments for patients and staff.
