Overview
Summary: Christ Church Cathedral is a large, historic church in downtown Nashville. Our sextons act as caretakers of the church building and play a large role in making sure our space is safe and welcoming for parishioners and visitors. We are looking for an on-call sexton to work special occasions, such as weddings, funerals, or meetings that occur on weekday evenings or Saturdays.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the grounds are clean and free of trash
- Maintain the cleanliness of facilities, including restrooms and common areas (we employ a full-time cleaning crew during weekdays)
- Implement room arrangements as scheduled
- Set up refreshments as needed
- Assess and report to supervisor any observed maintenance problems; when urgent, troubleshoot systems and call appropriate service providers
- Assist in maintaining security for the building and parking lots
- Assist staff, especially the event coordinator, as requested
Desired Qualifications
You should apply if you are a friendly, dependable and trustworthy person who is a caretaker of places and people. You must be willing to help staff and guests with a can-do personality. Cleaning and light maintenance experience is desirable. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, perform physical tasks necessary for the position, and work independently. Pay: From $20.00 per hour
