FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
FRENCH BROAD BAPTIST CHURCH
Director of Youth Ministry (Part-time)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
I. MINISTER: To provide for the practical biblical teaching to middle and high school students and families by:
a. Teaching students and providing resources and training for teacher volunteers and leaders in the youth group during Sunday School, and on Wednesday nights;
b. Taking initiative in being present for and supporting all aspects of church-related activities.
II. PROVIDE FELLOWSHIP AND MISSION OPPORTUNITIES by:
a. Planning and coordinating (to include seeking and training volunteers) monthly fellowship, discipleship, and service opportunities for students;
b. Planning, coordinating, and providing solid and responsible leadership for youth mission trips and retreats; and
c. Providing leadership in fellowship, mission, and discipleship opportunities in coordination with the church body and with other churches in the community.
III. PROVIDE BIBLICAL SUPPORT AND COUNSEL TO STUDENTS AND FAMILIES by:
a. Recruiting and training teachers and leaders/mentors for students;
b. Providing resources for teachers and leaders/mentors for students;
c. Providing resources and support to parents, guardians, and caregivers to encourage and enable to lead students in their Christian walk.
d. Recruiting and coordinating a parent support team for youth activities and ministries, and to direct support where and when needed;
e. Connecting with youth at schools through attending FCA gatherings, sporting events, drama performances, music performances, service projects and at other special events as time allows.
f. Communicating regularly through church and parent approved channels (including appropriate interactions on social media) to provide ongoing information and encouragement to students and families.
IV. PROVIDE ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT by:
a. Creating and posting an up-to-date calendar of youth events and encouraging congregation/community involvement and support in youth activities, and encouraging youth involvement in community-oriented mission activities; and
b. Regularly collaborating and communicating with the Pastor regarding plans, needs, and any concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS
Deep and mature faith in Christ that demonstrates Christ-like character on and off campus in both word and deed.
Energetic personality with a high capacity for relationships – especially with teens; ability to manage a group, teach with clarity, project a positive attitude, and work independently as well as with teams.
Knowledgeable and capable of utilizing current word processing, publishing, and presentation soft-ware as well as ability to use various types of social and electronic media to provide up to date information and communication to students, parents, congregation, and community.
Ability to lead group discussions and demonstrate and facilitate sound and responsible decision-making.
Ability to coordinate room set-up (arrangement of chairs and tables as needed). Must be able to stand, reach, lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.

EXPERIENCE
*Two to three years direct experience working with youth (in a Christian setting preferred).
HOURS:
Up to 20 hours per week with exceptions being special events, trips, retreats, etc.
SALARY:
Competitive wage based on experience and/or qualifications
