Do You Like Keeping Things Running?
We're looking for someone who's handy, organized, and comfortable using technology to stay on top of a busy fleet. You don't need to be a master mechanic - but you should be the kind of person who can look at an inspection report, figure out what's going on, and know what to do next.
Some days that means handling a minor repair yourself. Other days it means coordinating with shops in our repair network to get a vehicle taken care of. Either way, you'll be the one making the call - and keeping things moving.
Ally Waste Services is a premium provider of waste support services to apartment complexes throughout the United States. We aim to keep properties clean and reduce waste expenses for property managers. We are a fast-growing company with an energetic culture–a great place to work! Our team is high-energy team that values hard work, humility, and making a difference.
You'll work alongside our fleet team to keep our trucks and trailers running smoothly - and safely. These vehicles are on the road every day, so the work you do directly affects driver safety and DOT compliance. You'll bring the mechanical know-how; we'll get you fluent in our specific tools and processes:
-
Track truck inspections and repairs using our fleet software (Fleetio)
-
Perform minor maintenance and repairs on trucks and trailers:
-
Replace lights on vehicles
-
Repair minor issues on trailers
-
Check and inspect tires
-
Install and troubleshoot GPS tracking units (Samsara)
-
Ensure safety equipment is working properly
-
Test vehicle operations
-
Coordinate with our operations team to schedule maintenance
-
Drive trucks to and from repair shops when needed
-
Travel to fleet locations and properties across our markets (up to 50% travel, all paid) to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs
-
Monitor and report on maintenance projects
-
Maintain our preventive maintenance program
-
Partner with fleet managers to track vehicle recalls and ensure DOT compliance
-
You have hands-on experience repairing and maintaining vehicles - through professional work, personal/DIY mechanical work, or some mix of both
-
You can diagnose and fix common vehicle issues without needing to be walked through it
-
You're willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time - this is a field role, not a fixed shop position
-
You're comfortable on a computer - you'll be documenting inspections and repairs through our fleet software (Fleetio) and GPS units (Samsara) while in the field
-
You pay attention to details and take pride in doing things right
-
You're a self-starter who can work independently
-
You have a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record, and can pass an MVR (driving record) check
-
You're able to pass a DOT medical certification exam and a pre-employment drug screening
-
High School Diploma or GED
-
You have experience towing and maneuvering a trailer - personal (boat, camper, utility trailer, etc.) or professional
-
You've worked on trucks, trailers, or other commercial fleet vehicles specifically
-
You're familiar with fleet management or telematics software (Fleetio, Samsara, or similar)
-
You like solving problems and troubleshooting issues
-
$25 - $30/hour, based on experience
-
Comprehensive health and wellness benefits
-
Training on our specific tools, systems, and processes
-
Professional development opportunities
-
Inclusive and collaborative work environment
-
A real trade career, not just a job
If you've got real mechanical experience and want to put it to work keeping our fleet safe and road-ready, we want to hear from you!
