Position Summary:
We are looking for a dependable, hardworking, and compassionate Kennel Worker to join our veterinary team. This position is fast-paced and physically demanding, requiring someone who genuinely enjoys working with animals and isn't afraid to get dirty. The Kennel Worker plays an important role in ensuring our boarding and hospitalized pets receive excellent daily care while helping keep our facility clean and running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Feed and water boarding and hospitalized pets according to instructions.
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, runs, and common areas.
- Walk dogs and provide potty breaks throughout the day.
- Monitor animals for changes in appetite, behavior, or health and report concerns to the veterinary staff.
- Bathe pets
- Wash dishes, laundry, bedding, towels, and blankets.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.
- Properly dispose of waste and follow sanitation protocols.
- Assist technicians and veterinarians with animal handling when needed.
- Restock supplies and help with general cleaning throughout the hospital.
- Provide compassionate care and attention to every animal.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance are required.
- Comfortable working around dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments.
- Able to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand, bend, squat, and walk for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions while walking dogs.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions.
- Previous animal care experience is a plus but not required—we are willing to train the right person.
