General Description
Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a Live Bottom Truck.
Key Duties.

Drive commercial trucks to transport bulk materials to construction, paving,.
-
Operate live bottom belt controls to discharge loads evenly and safely.

Secure and cover loads with tarp systems to meet legal road requirements.

Maintain logs and complete delivery receipts or shipping papers.

Ability to visually and physically inspect the mechanical, safety and operational components, for operating defects; including completion of Pre/Post trip Driver Vehicle Inspection Report(s).

Responsible for notifying supervisor, immediately, if vehicle is in need of repair(s).

Knowledge of applicable USDOT & FMCSA safety regulations.

Visually interpret vehicle indicator(s) for fluid levels including oil, water and fuel.

Required to obtain and hold approved medical examiners certificate (FMCSR part 391.41), for duration of employment and in accordance with Class \"A\" CDL License requirements.

Must be able to operate automatic transmission vehicle.

Prepares/submits written and/or digital records of container drop offs/pick ups/transports.

Visually assess container content and, where applicable, secure/reposition/adjust contents, to ensure secured load, for safe transport.

Able to work day or night shifts as required

Communicates verbally, with Dispatch and/or Supervisor, on frequent basis.

Interpret and Follow Dispatched Routing/Map(s), for pick up and/or delivery of various material.

Other duties, as assigned.
Education and Experience. This position typically is not an entry-level job.

Valid CDL Class A commercial driver’s license depending on trailer size.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.

A minimum of three years (3) CMV Driving experience required.

Clean driving record that meets company insurance standards.

Pass a DOT physical drug screening and background check.
Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a CDL Driver to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Routinely work a shift of 10-12 hours/per day, including nights and weekends.
-
Required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
-
The Driver must be able to climb into and out of the cab safely.
-
Physical ability to climb ladders, manage tarps, and lift up to 50 pounds.
-
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner.
-
Potential exposure to dust, dirt grease and noise; ability to wear personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hardhat, where applicable.

Periodically walk and/or stand, for short periods of time, on various terrain, including sand, gravel, pavement and dirt.

Must be able to communicate and understand both orally and written/typed.
Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a CDL Driver encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.

Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.

Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.

Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites or equipment shop such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and asphalt.
