We are seeking an experienced FAA Part 107 Certified Drone Instructor to deliver engaging virtual instruction to high school students preparing for the FAA Remote Pilot Certification while introducing students to real-world drone applications and career pathways.
Position Overview
The Part 107 Drone Instructor will teach live virtual classes to high school students using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). The instructor will prepare students to successfully pass the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Knowledge Exam while developing foundational skills in drone operations, aviation safety, mission planning, and professional UAS applications.
This position requires an energetic instructor who enjoys mentoring young learners and creating an engaging virtual classroom experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging live online instruction using Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
- Teach FAA Part 107 curriculum aligned with FAA standards and best practices.
- Prepare students for the FAA Remote Pilot Knowledge Test.
- Manage all course content, assignments, quizzes, grades, and discussions within Canvas LMS.
- Create an interactive and supportive virtual classroom environment.
- Monitor student attendance, participation, and academic progress.
- Provide timely feedback and academic support.
- Utilize drone flight demonstrations, videos, simulations, and case studies to enhance instruction.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
- Participate in curriculum updates and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Attend periodic instructor meetings and professional development sessions.
Required Qualifications
Required
Current FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107) in good standing.
Minimum 2 years of drone operations experience.
Experience teaching or training students in either a classroom or virtual environment.
Demonstrated experience using Canvas LMS.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Education, Engineering, Technology, or related field.
Previous experience teaching high school or college students.
Experience operating DJI or similar commercial drones.
Experience with drone mapping, aerial photography, inspections, or public safety operations.
Experience creating online instructional materials.
Knowledge of STEM education and workforce development.
FAA Part 61 Pilot Certificate (preferred but not required).
