Responsibilities
- Oversee daily nursing operations, ensuring high-quality patient care aligned with hospital, long-term care, or assisted living standards.
- Supervise and mentor nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to inform care plans.
- Manage medical documentation accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care activities such as medication administration, IV infusion, catheterization, tube feeding, and ventilator management.
- Lead discharge planning, case management, and utilization review processes to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization.
- Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed and maintain sterile techniques during procedures like phlebotomy, suturing, and specimen collection.
- Facilitate staff training on new procedures, EMR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth, and compliance with NCQA standards.
- Support emergency response efforts including airway management, acute pain management, and trauma care in Level I or Level II trauma center settings.
Skills
- Proven supervisory experience in nursing management within acute care, ICU, or hospital medicine environments.
- Extensive clinical expertise in critical care experience including ICU or emergency medicine settings; familiarity with Level I/II trauma centers preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth; strong medical documentation skills.
- Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for accurate diagnostic evaluation and billing processes.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques including vital signs measurement, anatomy knowledge, and diagnostic evaluation.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics (PICU), geriatrics (memory/dementia care), behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to perform advanced procedures such as IV insertion, catheter care, sterile processing, and spinal tap when necessary.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and secure handling of medical records.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate staff while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to cardiology (cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (ophthalmology), or occupational health is a plus.
