Overview
Our client is a growing optics and precision manufacturing company where supply chain is a strategic function, not a back office. They're looking for a hands-on Supply Chain & Procurement Manager to own purchasing, materials planning, and import logistics end-to-end, from demand signal through production availability. You are not managing a team of buyers; you are the buyer, planner, and logistics coordinator, with direct impact on customer delivery, production throughput, and working capital.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain rolling demand forecasts and translate sales, open orders, and production schedules into materials requirements across 700+ active SKUs — managing reorder points, safety stock, and MOQ constraints
- Own supplier relationships, including manufacturers in Asia, negotiating pricing, lead times, and quality terms and driving supplier on-time delivery
- Issue and track purchase orders in ERP, expedite at-risk shipments, and keep PO and inventory data clean as the single source of truth
- Coordinate international logistics and trade compliance: customs clearance, HTS classification, duty payments, and programs such as Temporary Importation under Bond (TIB) and duty drawback; track Section 301 and IEEPA tariff exposure
- Maintain accurate inventory across multiple warehouses, run cycle counts, and control excess, obsolete, and slow-moving exposure
- Partner with production on material availability, kit readiness, and shortage resolution so commitments are met
- Partner with quality on incoming inspection, supplier corrective actions (SCAR), and MRB/DMR disposition
- Track landed cost by SKU and drive cost reduction through negotiation, freight optimization, and alternative sourcing
What you bring
- 5+ years hands-on supply chain, procurement, or materials management in a manufacturing environment (optics, electro-mechanical, precision components, or electronics preferred)
- Direct experience managing Asian suppliers across time zones: negotiation, lead times, tooling, and factory quality practices
- Ownership-level ERP fluency: comfortable working daily in ERP and spreadsheets, not delegating data entry
- Working knowledge of international logistics and customs: HTS classification, import documentation, duty calculation, and customs broker management
- Strong analytical and forecasting skills: demand data, lead-time variability, safety stock models, and inventory analysis
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, industrial engineering, business, or a related field; equivalent experience considered
Preferred experience
- Mandarin Chinese language ability (speaking and reading)
- Supply chain certification — APICS CPIM, CSCP, or CLTD
- Experience with Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), bonded warehousing, TIB, or duty drawback programs
- Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) or Lean applied to supply chain processes
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems and QMS-controlled procurement
- EAR/ITAR export controls or trade compliance experience in manufacturing
- Acumatica ERP experience
- Background sourcing optical components, imaging systems, or precision mechanical parts

The expected range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 per year, based on skills and experience. Final compensation will be determined during the selection process and may vary accordingly.
