Job Responsibilities:
1. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves members of surgical team following aseptic techniques.
2. Assists in set up of operating room with all necessary equipment and supplies.
3. Assists with the preparation, transportation, and monitoring of patients.
4. Arranges instruments according to routine for given procedure.
5. Handles instruments according to routine for given procedure.
6. Maintains sterile field throughout the surgical procedure.
7. Performs room clean up following procedures, as well as general housekeeping duties.
8. Provides assistance in emergency situations as directed.
9. Functions in the role of second assistant following successful skills demonstration.
Qualifications:
The Operating Room Technician must be a High School graduate or have completed a GED course. In addition, successful completion of O.R. technician course and/or 2 years experience is preferred. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as function within a team; have a basic knowledge of surgical technique; assist in providing care for the surgical patient; and must possess the ability to handle stress.
