Qualifications:
A Lead Teacher will be considered credentialed for the position with minimally any of the following:

A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, Birth-K, or PK-3 endorsement; or

A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching. The transcript will document a major, rather than a minor, in child development or early childhood education.

Training in High Scope Curriculum

Ability to work effectively with pre-school age children, parents, and co-workers

Awareness of child development theory and practices
-
Ability to develop appropriate curriculum
-
Ability to treat children with kindness and respect
-
Self-motivated, dependable and responsible
-
Must be available and able to perform functions of the job
-
CPR, First Aide Certificate preferred
-
Good attendance record
Job Duties
-
Instruction of pre-school aged children
-
Develop daily schedule of activities and lessons
-
Respond quickly to emergency situations
-
Available and responsive to all children
-
Treats all children of all ages, races, religions family backgrounds and cultures with equal respect and consideration
-
Anticipates and eliminates potential problems, redirecting children to more acceptable behavior or activity
-
Guide children in resolving conflicts by modeling skills that help children to solve their individual problems
-
Lift a minimum of 40 lbs
-
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
