Kephera Diagnostics is seeking a motivated and qualified candidate to join our R&D team as a Research Associate / Associate Scientist, specializing in the development of immunoassays. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development, validation, and launch of immunoassays for infectious diseases, including point-of-care and laboratory-based diagnostic formats as part of our expanding product portfolio.
The successful candidate will play a key role in multiple project phases, from initial research and assay prototyping to clinical validation and regulatory submission, supporting Kephera's mission to improve global public health. We are seeking a candidate who thrives in a collaborative team environment but is equally capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Designing and performing laboratory experiments with a focus on the design, development, optimization, and validation of immunoassays.
- Carrying out critical tasks such as antibody conjugation, purification and characterization of proteins, and optimization of the assay.
- Evaluating assay performance metrics, including sensitivity, specificity, stability, and reproducibility.
- Collaborating on production of native and recombinant proteins for use in immunoassays.
- Maintaining detailed and accurate experimental documentation in compliance with laboratory and regulatory standards.
- Analyzing, interpreting, and presenting experimental data at internal R&D meetings and for company management.
- Performing literature reviews to support assay development initiatives.
- Assisting with routine laboratory maintenance and quality control tasks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s (BS) or Master’s (MS) degree in life sciences, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Experience in assay development is preferred.
- Proficiency with laboratory techniques such as conjugation chemistry, protein purification, chromatography, and immunoassay testing.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in assay troubleshooting and optimization.
- Familiarity with data analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to document results and share findings with the team.
