Journeyman Electrician

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician to support commercial transportation hub projects throughout the Greater Washington, DC area. This role is ideal for a skilled electrician with experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and electrical infrastructure who is comfortable working independently in transit and underground environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and repairing electrical and wireless communications systems that support critical transit operations.
Responsibilities
- Test electrical systems using voltmeters, oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, wiring, devices, and components
- Document test results, diagnoses, repairs, and corrective actions
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, maps, and technical documentation
- Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
- Respond to emergency service calls and assess system safety
- Maintain compliance with company safety policies and OSHA standards
- Work from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and elevated platforms as needed
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition
- Perform component replacement and troubleshooting on underground wireless communications infrastructure, including:
- Fiber optic and coaxial networks
- Signal boosters
- Remote power modules
- Repeaters
- Antennas
- Combiner trays
- Provide field support and oversight for carrier engineering and construction teams
- Coordinate track access and escorting requirements
- Ensure all repairs comply with National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and transit safety regulations
- Work independently during overnight maintenance windows with minimal supervision
Required Qualifications
- Valid Journeyman Electrician License (DC or Maryland with reciprocity)
- Completion of an accredited electrician apprenticeship program
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
- Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment
- Hands-on DAS (Distributed Antenna System) experience
- Experience with field testing, hardware replacement, and equipment troubleshooting
- Comfortable working in transit tunnels and underground environments
- Working knowledge of fiber optics, structured cabling, and basic RF systems
- Ability to obtain transit authority clearances and complete required safety training
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Confined Space Certification
- Previous transit, transportation, or infrastructure project experience
Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
