Minimum Qualifications:

Valid and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maine.

Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Excellent ability to communicate with consumers, families, other providers, co-workers, and program management.
Essential Functions:

Become familiar with all residents to be able to provide medical support as needed.

Act as a role model and professional.
-
Able to teach the CRMA curriculum.
-
Provide support and oversight of CRMAs.
-
Monitor Medication Administration Records (MMR) prior to home administration.

Monthly program audit of electronic health records and program visits:
-
obtain and monitor status of doctors' order including over the counter medications;
-
check expiration dates of medication;
-
keep first aid boxes stocked;
-
review all incident reports;
-
obtain and monitor Licensing and Agency policies regarding medication administration.

Develop and provide monthly staff training related to health and safety including:
-
legally required (BBP, Fatal Five, MSDS, etc.);
-
related to specific consumer needs/diagnoses (ex: diabetes, bronchial dilators, seizure disorders, g-tube).

Act as agency designated Infection Control Officer; oversee Infection Control Plan.

Consult in the admission process to ensure that Dirigo Support Professionals can appropriately serve a potential resident with complex medical needs.

Participate in individual served meetings as needed when there are significant medical issues.

Serve as a liaison between the program and resident health care providers/families/other caregivers to address consumer health needs.
Travel between sixteen locations in the Lewiston-Auburn area is required.
