Title: Paralegal, Expungement Help Desk
Employee Classification: Full-time, non-exempt
Supervisor: Senior Manager, Expungement Help Desk
Job Summary: The Expungement Help Desk Paralegal assists and supports the Expungement Help Desk by performing paralegal tasks including visitor intake, document preparation, file management, visitor communication, and data entry. In addition, the Expungement Help Desk Paralegal will assist the Expungement Help Desk by participating in the Help Desk’s mobile initiatives, including staffing on-site assistance projects with local community partners and participating in education outreach events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Conduct initial intakes by phone and in person
· Perform all activities necessary to obtain complete criminal record information
· Evaluate eligibility and determine next steps
· Prepare documents necessary for pursuing expungement
· Educate visitors and do necessary follow-up
· Identify obstacles encountered during expungement process, assist in resolution through correspondence with other legal entities
· Contribute to development of internal database capturing unique aspects of each counties’ expungement process
· Follow established protocols for maintaining visitor data
· Staff community events and mobile Help Desk initiatives
· Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
· Understands re-entry and criminal justice related issues, including the barriers presented by a criminal history, or willingness to learn
· Collaborates effectively with team members

Credentials and experience:
· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in law or paralegal studies, criminal justice or social work, but not required
· Experience working in a social services environment preferred
· Experience working in an environment where thoroughness, accuracy, and follow through are essential
· Demonstrated desire to work with vulnerable or justice-involved individuals
Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
