JOB
Under general supervision, the Asset Management Technician is responsible for ongoing development and implementation of asset management principles and practices in all divisions of the Public Works Department. Recommends and implements Asset Management policy and strategy for the Public Works Department. Assists in the means and methods for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on data used to support complex decision making using accepted asset management principles and practices; coordinates data collection programs related to Public Works business operations; supports strategic planning and prioritization; administrative support and oversees use of specialized software.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintains the functionality of the systems environment, the implementation of technology solutions, and the development of server upgrade plans and procedures.
Leverage ArcGIS for in depth spatial analysis & solutions
Implements and/or develops operating procedures for technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and innovative systems administration techniques.
Provides guidance in troubleshooting and solving complex problems related to system software and hardware incidents and problem calls, and in the processing of service requests and tasks.
Coordinates projects that cross functional Harris County systems that require coordination, planning, and scheduling during project development and implementation.
Assists in analyzing and defining Precinct 2 disaster recovery responsibilities and procedures.
Maintains, implements, monitors, reports, and develops all assets, work performed, planned maintenance and resources within the database.
Assist in the development and implementation of new or revised processes and procedures that effectively meet Precinct 2 needs and improve workflow.
Analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves system hardware, software, and networking issues; and provides status reports to management.
Assist in the training of staff of all systems and provides advice and guidance during the implementation process.
Responsible for maintaining and/or updating the Precinct 2 Public Works website.
Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
A regular full-time position, requiring the employee to work 40 hours per week.
Hours may vary based on business needs of the department and some weekends, evening hours or holidays may be required during special events.
Situations may require additional hours without prior notice.
Required to work on-site during an emergency event.
Perform emergency standby duty, during non-duty hours, as assigned.
Location:
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
