About Ladies of Virtue
Ladies of Virtue (LOV) is a Chicago-based nonprofit dedicated to developing Black girls into purpose-driven leaders. Now in its 15th year, LOV delivers year-round programming, serves a growing alumnae network, and partners with a national ecosystem of donors, schools, and organizations. As LOV grows, we are building our first formal marketing function to ensure the organization’s work is not only executed but seen, understood, and scaled.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Marketing Assistant to support the day-to-day execution of marketing efforts across the organization. This role is focused on execution, organization, and consistency — helping bring marketing plans to life and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
The Marketing Assistant will work closely with the Marketing Manager and Social Media Manager to support content creation, communications, website coordination, and event coverage.
This is an ideal role for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, creative, and eager to grow within a mission-driven marketing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Newsletters
- Draft and format newsletters using provided content and direction
- Ensure newsletters are clear, visually organized, and ready for distribution
- Support scheduling and deployment of email communications via Constant Contact
- Maintain consistency in formatting, tone, and structure across all sends
Website Maintenance
- Conduct regular website checks to ensure information is accurate and up to date
- Identify and flag outdated or missing content to the Marketing Manager
- Coordinate with the website designer to implement updates and changes
Content & Social Media Support
- Assist with capturing photos and videos at events, including Saturday Leadership Institute, LOV Day, Black Girl Rest, and other programs
- Organize and upload content into shared folders (SharePoint/OneDrive) for team use
- Support social media posting as needed based on provided captions and direction
Marketing Operations Support
- Assist with organizing marketing assets, including photos, videos, and templates
- Support updating calendars, trackers, and project tools such as Asana and content calendars
- Help keep marketing requests and deliverables organized and on schedule
- Provide general support to ensure smooth day-to-day marketing operations
Cross-Team Support
- Work with program staff to gather content, updates, and information
- Help ensure all materials are organized, accessible, and ready for use
Qualifications
Required
- 1–2 years of experience in marketing, communications, or social media
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Basic writing and communication skills
- Ability to follow directions and complete tasks independently
- Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Experience with Canva or basic design tools
- Experience using project management tools such as Asana
- Comfort using Microsoft tools (SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook)
- Interest in nonprofit or mission-driven work
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 60–90 days, this role will:
- Keep newsletters, website coordination, and content organized and consistent
- Ensure marketing tasks are completed on time and accurately
- Support strong documentation of events and programs through content capture
- Help create a smoother, more organized marketing workflow for the team
